Japan provides Cambodia with $200 in loan for economic recovery. JICA

Japan provided more than $200 million in loan to Cambodia to recover economic and social downturn affected by COVID-19.

On November 10, Economy and Finance Minister Aun Pornmoniroth and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Cambodia Office Acting Chief Representative Sugano Yuichi signed a loan agreement of “the COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support Loan” with $234 million, JICA said in a statement yesterday.

“The Government of Japan is extending the COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support Loan to the Royal Governance of Cambodia with a view to promote the economic stabilization and development efforts including the supports for strengthening health systems, and social assistance, improvement of logistic connectivity and physical infrastructure of the Kingdom of Cambodia which has suffered from adverse economic impacts as a result of the COVID-19,” it said.

As one of the largest development partners, JICA has always taken a holistic approach to supporting to solve the various challenges which Cambodia faces and continues to work with Cambodia to defeat COVID-19, JICA said.
